83. My favorite museums in St. Petersburg (after three months)

Now that I've been to most of the major museums in town (and several of the minor ones), here is my ranked list of museums in order of preference. Although I do consider (non-operational) churches as well as palaces to be part of the broader "museum" category, I am not including them in this list - they'll get their own posts, sooner or later (although, palaces that include significant art collections or exhibits are included in this list). Also, I don't think this is quite the same as a list of the "best" museums from an educational, entertainment, or museological perspective; this is just my personal ranking of how much I've enjoyed each institution:

01. The Hermitage (Winter Palace)
02. State Russian Museum
03. The Hermitage (General Staff Building)
04. Erarta
05. Museum of the Siege and Defense of Leningrad
06. Marble Palace
07. Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography
08. Russian State Ethnographic Museum
09. Faberge Museum
10. State Russian Museum (St. Michael's Castle)
11. Naval Museum
12. Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic
13. Russian Levsha Museum
14. Alexander Pushkin House Museum
15. Museum of the History of St. Petersburg
16. Dostoevsky House
17. Nabokov Museum
18. Museum of Nonconformist Art
19. The Hermitage (Imperial Porcelain Factory)
20. The Hermitage (Winter Palace of Peter I)
21. Museum of Music
22. Cabin of Peter the Great
23. Russian State Museum of the History of Religion

A caveat - I've visited only a couple dozen museums so far in St. Petersburg, and there are hundreds of others listed on Trip Advisor (many more than in New York City, another great museum town). Some of those are duplicates entries, some are actually art galleries, and many are of course in the aforementioned church or palace category, but still, that's a lot. I've really just scratched the surface. On the other hand, I'm aiming for quality over quantity, and I don't think I'll be visiting the Perfume Museum, Cat Museum, Coffee Museum, Art Fan Museum, Mitten Museum, or Museum of Torture any time soon (I'm sure those each have their respective boosters, but I've got to winnow the list somehow).
